72 votes to 56: El Asri wins the Wydad presidency in the run-off
Ibrahim El Asri has been elected the new president of Wydad AC, succeeding Hicham Aït Menna after a two-round vote.

Ibrahim El Asri was elected the new president of Wydad Athletic Club on Tuesday, 21 July, at the end of the club's ordinary and elective general assembly, succeeding Hicham Aït Menna.
A two-round election
The vote was decided over two rounds. In the first round, El Asri led with 62 votes, ahead of Yassine Saadallah (43 votes) and Anas Korami (27 votes). With no candidate securing the required majority, a run-off between the top two followed: El Asri ultimately won with 72 votes against 56 for Saadallah.
An eventful assembly
The election came at the end of a general assembly marked by several twists: members in attendance notably rejected the financial report for the 2025-2026 season, just months after former president Hicham Aït Menna and his board resigned.
A new chapter for Wydad
Ibrahim El Asri now takes charge of one of the most decorated clubs in Moroccan and African football, tasked with turning the page on a turbulent end to his predecessor's term.
