History of Wydad AC
Founding and Early Years
Wydad Athletic Club was founded on 8 May 1937 in Casablanca, making it one of the oldest football clubs in Morocco, at a time when the country was still under French protectorate rule.
Club Evolution
The club plays its home matches at the Mohammed V stadium, reopened in 2025 after renovation, with a capacity of around 45,000, which it shares with its great rival Raja Club Athletic.
Great Managers
The club has enjoyed several golden eras throughout its history, winning three CAF Champions League titles (1992, 2017, 2022) under several notable managers. After a 2025-26 season marked by several changes on the bench, Sami Trabelsi took charge of the team in 2026.
