Morocco's Ayyoub Bouaddi played a role in Manchester City's emphatic 5-0 win over visiting Norwich City in the third round of the English League Cup (Carabao Cup), sending the Citizens through to the fourth round of the competition.
A pinpoint assist for Cherki
Bouaddi delivered a lovely through ball to Frenchman Rayan Cherki in the 32nd minute, allowing him to double City's lead after young Floyd Samba's opener, who later added a second goal of his own to complete a brace on his professional debut at just 17. Brazilian Allan added a fourth, before the team rounded off the scoring with a fifth goal in the closing minutes.
A standout display from Bouaddi
Bouaddi earned a solid 7.5/10 rating from multiple outlets, delivering an influential attacking performance despite losing the ball a couple of times in dangerous areas, and controlling the closing stages of the match well. The contribution comes just days after he was included in Morocco's squad for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Gabon and Lesotho.
Brighton up next in round four
With the win, Manchester City advance to the fourth round of the League Cup, where they will face Brighton, who knocked out Manchester United in the previous round.
