About the Conference League
History
The UEFA Europa Conference League is the youngest of UEFA's three club competitions, first played in the 2021-22 season. AS Roma won the very first edition, beating Feyenoord 1-0 in the final. Since the 2024-25 season, the competition has adopted the same 36-team league-phase format as the Champions League and Europa League. No club has won the trophy twice yet: Roma, West Ham United, Olympiacos, and Chelsea were the only winners before Crystal Palace, crowned in the 2025-26 edition after beating Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the final in Leipzig, securing the club's first-ever European trophy.

Competition format
Since the 2024-25 season, the Conference League is played under a single league-phase format featuring 36 clubs, each playing six matches against six different opponents.
At the end of the league phase, the top teams qualify directly for the Round of 16, while the next-best teams play a knockout play-off round, on a similar principle to the Europa League.
Qualification for the Europa League
The Conference League winner earns a direct spot in the following season's Europa League league stage, if not already qualified for a higher European competition through their domestic league.
