History of Strasbourg
Founding and Early Years
The club was founded on 1 January 1906 as FC Neudorf, by students from Strasbourg's Neudorf district. It took the name Racing Club de Strasbourg in 1919, after Alsace's return to France following the First World War.
Club Evolution
Nicknamed "Le Racing" or "Les Bleu et Blanc," the club have played since 1914 at the Stade de la Meinau, the only stadium in their history. Since June 2023, the club has belonged to BlueCo, Chelsea's owning group, integrating it into a multi-club network.
Great Managers
Gilbert Gress remains the club's most significant figure: he led Strasbourg to their sole Ligue 1 title in 1978-79, having already contributed to the 1966 Coupe de France win as a player.
Iconic Players
Ernst Stojaspal defined the club's 1950s. Frank Leboeuf, who passed through Racing before becoming a 1998 World Cup winner with France, is among the great names developed or who emerged at the club.
Major Achievements
RC Strasbourg have won one Ligue 1 title (1978-79), three Coupe de France titles (1950-51, 1965-66, 2000-01), and four Coupe de la Ligue titles, the most recent in 2018-19, with no European trophy.

Led by Hugo Oliveira since July 2026 and chaired by Marc Keller since 2012, under BlueCo ownership since 2023, RC Strasbourg finished 8th in Ligue 1 in 2025-26 and qualified for the Europa Conference League after reaching the same competition's semi-final.
