History
The German Super Cup (DFB-Supercup) was created in 1987 by the German Football Association (DFB). Discontinued after the 1996 edition, it was revived in 2010 under the German Football League (DFL) in its current format: the Bundesliga champion faces the DFB-Pokal winner, or the Bundesliga runner-up in the event of a domestic double. Since 2025, the competition has been named the "Franz Beckenbauer Supercup," in honor of the late German football legend. Bayern Munich are the competition's most successful club with 11 titles. In the 2025 edition, played on 16 August 2025 at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart, Bayern Munich defeated VfB Stuttgart 2-1.
