History of Stuttgart
Founding and Early Years
VfB Stuttgart was founded on 9 September 1893 as Stuttgarter Fußball-Verein, originally a rugby club before a football section emerged in 1908. Its current form came from a merger with Kronen-Club Cannstatt on 2 April 1912.
Club Evolution
Nicknamed "Die Roten" (The Reds) or "Die Schwaben" (The Swabians), the club wear red and white. They play at the MHPArena, opened in 1933, which hosted matches at the 2006 World Cup.
