38 Wins, Just Two Defeats.. Spain Rewards De la Fuente with a Historic Deal

The Spanish Football Federation has officially announced the renewal of Luis de la Fuente's contract as Spain head coach, after the federation's executive committee approved the deal during its meeting held on Monday.

The longest contract in the national team's history

The new deal runs for six additional years, keeping de la Fuente in charge through the end of Euro 2032, co-hosted by Turkey and Italy — the longest contract ever signed by a coach with the Spanish federation. It covers "La Roja"'s participation in three major tournaments: Euro 2028, the 2030 World Cup and Euro 2032, in addition to three editions of the UEFA Nations League in 2027, 2029 and 2031.

Record numbers since taking charge

De la Fuente has managed Spain in 50 matches since taking over, recording 38 wins and 10 draws against just two defeats — the best record of any coach in the national team's history. He also guided Spain to its longest unbeaten run, 38 matches overall and 39 in official competitions.

A historic treble

The renewal caps off a historic treble achieved by de la Fuente with the Spain national team: the UEFA Nations League title, Euro 2024, and most recently the 2026 World Cup, making him the most successful coach in "La Roja"'s history.
