Despite the Suspension.. Hakimi and Saibari to Attend the Atlas Lions' Camp on Wednesday

Ismael Saibari and Achraf Hakimi are set to join the Morocco national team camp next Wednesday, after both missed the Atlas Lions' first training session.

Why they missed the first session

Saibari and Hakimi missed Morocco's first training session as they are unable to feature in the opening match against Gabon, having been suspended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Present despite the suspension

Although unable to play against Gabon, both players are still able to join the current camp, since the suspension applies to just one match, while the ongoing international break spans a full two weeks — allowing them to prepare for the squad's subsequent fixtures.

Morocco's schedule

Morocco play their opening match against Gabon next Friday in Matchday 1 of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, before facing Lesotho on September 29, then closing out the camp with a friendly against Ghana on October 4. These three matches represent an important checkpoint to assess the readiness of the Atlas Lions ahead of the resumption of official competitions, amid the absence of several key players for the opening fixture.
