Fabian Herbers scored Montreal's lone goal.
In Nashville, Nashville SC posted a comfortable 4-0 win over Cincinnati through goals from Sam Surridge, Hany Mukhtar, Bryan Acosta and Ahmed Qasem, taking their tally to 52 points through 22 matches — the best start in MLS history at this stage of a season.
San Diego FC continued their mastery over LA Galaxy with a 3-1 win, courtesy of goals from Elias Achouri (11'), Kieran Sargeant (48') and Amahl Pellegrino (70'), while Hirving Lozano pulled one back for Galaxy (55').
