FIFA has firmly denied, in an official statement, allegations made by the British newspaper The Times claiming that its president, Gianni Infantino, promised Morocco the hosting of the 2030 World Cup final, in exchange for political support for his re-election as FIFA president in March 2027.

According to the British newspaper, discussions took place between Gianni Infantino and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regarding awarding the final to Morocco. Sources close to the Moroccan side confirmed that talks on the matter did take place, though without confirming any firm promise.
FIFA's firm response
A FIFA spokesperson described the claims as "false and misleading," stating that no decision has been made so far on the final's venue, and that the stadium will be chosen "in due course."
Three stadiums in contention
Three venues are currently mentioned as candidates to host the final of the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal: Camp Nou in Barcelona, the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, and the future Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca. Real Madrid is openly lobbying for the final to be played at their own stadium.
The matter remains fully open, with FIFA yet to set any official timeline for a final decision.
