Marseille - Real Sociedad: agreement in principle for Nayef Aguerd
Olympique de Marseille and Real Sociedad have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Moroccan international defender Nayef Aguerd, in the form of a paid loan with a purchase option.

Olympique de Marseille and Real Sociedad reached an agreement in principle on Friday evening for the transfer of Moroccan international defender Nayef Aguerd (30), in the form of a paid loan with a purchase option.
The player, capped 59 times by Morocco, welcomed the move, drawn by the prospect of playing under head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo and competing in the Europa League with a club that recently won the Copa del Rey.
Aguerd returns to Real Sociedad, where he already spent the 2024-25 season on loan before returning to Marseille. The French club signed him permanently for €23 million last season.
The move is part of Marseille's effort to ease its wage bill, after having rejected an initial offer from Real Sociedad. The deal still needs to be finalised, with administrative formalities and a medical still to come before any official announcement.
