World Cup 2026: how much will the winner between Spain and Argentina earn?

On the eve of the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, one question keeps coming up: how much does the world champion title actually pay?

$62.5 million for the winner

  • Participation fee + preparation costs (base amount guaranteed to every team): $12.5M
  • Title bonus for the winner: +$50M
  • Total for the champion: $62.5M

What about the runner-up?

The nation beaten in the final doesn't leave empty-handed either: its progression bonus brings its total payout to $45.5 million — $17 million less than the champion.

A figure sharply up since 2022

In Qatar in 2022, the winner took home $42 million. FIFA has therefore raised the champion's bonus by more than $20 million in a single edition, driven by the surge in TV and commercial revenue linked to the expansion to 48 teams.

This money is paid to the national federations, which are then responsible for distributing a share to players and staff according to their own internal agreements.
