In another wild encounter, Chelsea raced into a 3-0 lead through Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto and Joao Pedro in a scintillating opening period, before Malick Yalcouye pulled one back for Brighton just before half-time, and a Pascal Gross shot deflected off Joao Pedro made it 3-2.

But Cole Palmer settled it with a superb individual goal 16 minutes from time (74'), sealing a 4-3 win for Chelsea, who make it two wins from two under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Ipswich stunned Manchester United by opening the scoring early through Leif Davis, after a slick piece of skill from Abdul Fatawu. But the Red Devils completely turned the game around in the second half with a Bruno Fernandes hat-trick, plus goals from Harry Maguire and Bryan Mbeumo, to win 5-2 and claim their first victory of the season.

At Anfield, Dan Ndoye opened the scoring for Nottingham Forest, before Alexander Isak levelled for Liverpool on the hour (60'). Morgan Gibbs-White restored the visitors' lead from the penalty spot, but Víctor Muñoz, on his home debut, snatched a point for the hosts eight minutes from time (2-2). Under Andoni Iraola, Liverpool remain without a win this season after a second straight draw.
