History of Liverpool FC
Founding and Early Years
Liverpool Football Club was founded on 15 March 1892 by John Houlding, following a dispute with Everton's officials over Anfield, then shared by both clubs.
Club Evolution
The club has played its home matches at Anfield since its founding, a legendary stadium with a capacity of around 61,276, renowned for its atmosphere and its iconic anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone".
Great Managers
Bill Shankly laid the foundations for the club's greatness in the 1960s, before Bob Paisley led it to three European Cups between 1977 and 1983. Jürgen Klopp returned the club to the top of England and Europe between 2015 and 2024, winning the 2019 Champions League and the 2020 league title. Arne Slot succeeded him and won the title in his very first season in 2025, before being replaced by Andoni Iraola in 2026.
Iconic Players
The club has been carried by legendary figures such as Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, the iconic captain of the 2005 Istanbul comeback, and more recently Mohamed Salah, the club's all-time top scorer in the Premier League era.
Major Achievements
Liverpool hold, jointly with Manchester United, the record for English top-flight titles with 20, along with six Champions League titles (1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005, 2019), the last coming in the famous 2019 final against Tottenham.
The Club Today
Presided over by Tom Werner and managed by Andoni Iraola, Liverpool remain one of England's most decorated clubs, driven by their historic rivalry with Everton in the Merseyside derby.
