Kylian Mbappé did not hold back when assessing his France teammates' performance following the 0-2 defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup semi-final, admitting Les Bleus fell short of what was required.

"Honestly, we weren't at the level of a World Cup semi-final. We lacked intensity and fluidity going forward, and we gave the opponent space they didn't deserve. We have to admit that instead of looking for excuses."

Mbappé also had a difficult night individually, failing to score and picking up a yellow card in the 86th minute, in a match where Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro scored Spain's two goals.
