Weghorst Returns to Twente From Ajax

Dutch club Ajax have announced the departure of forward Wout Weghorst to Twente, after he signed a new two-year contract with his former club running until the summer of 2028, bringing an end to a two-season spell at Ajax. Weghorst had joined Ajax in August 2024 from Burnley, on a contract running through June 2026. With that deal reaching its end, neither side pushed for an extension, allowing the forward to return to Twente, a club he had represented before moving to the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. The transfer fee has not been officially disclosed, but Weghorst is expected to provide a significant attacking boost for Twente as they look to compete with Ajax, PSV, and Vitesse for the top spots in the Dutch league next season.
