History
The competition was created in 1957 as the "His Majesty's Cup," played annually until 1990. After a hiatus, it was revived in 2008 as the "King Cup of Champions," before adopting its current official name, the "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Cup," in 2014, returning to a broader knockout format. Al-Hilal are the competition's most decorated club. In the 2025-26 edition, the club claimed its 10th title by beating Al Kholood 2-1 in the final, played on 8 May 2026 at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, with goals from Theo Hernández and Salem Al Dawsari after trailing in the match.
