History of Al-Khaleej

Founding and Early Years

Al-Khaleej was founded in 1945 by residents of Saihat to compete in the league organized by Aramco for its foreign employees, initially under the name "Al-Nisr" (The Eagle), in yellow and black.

Club Evolution

Renamed "Al-Khaleej" by order of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz after he attended one of their matches against Al-Shabab, the club adopted yellow and green at that point and has since played at Prince Nayef Sports City Stadium, in Qatif.

Great Managers

Jalel Kadri (2014-2017), later Tunisia's national-team coach, and Pedro Emanuel (2022-2024) rank among the club's most recognized managers.

Iconic Players

The current squad includes Greek Kostas Fortounis, Olympiacos's long-time captain, as well as Norwegian Joshua King and Luxembourger Anthony Moris.

Major Achievements

Al-Khaleej won the first-division title in 2005-06 and 2021-22, along with the Federation Cup (Prince Faisal bin Fahd) in 1999-2000, and reached their best recent continental-style result with a King's Cup quarter-final in 2025-26.

The Club Today

Coached by Portuguese José Gomes and chaired by Alaa Al-Hamal, Al-Khaleej finished 12th in the 2025-26 championship, confirming their top-flight presence since 2021.
