Al-Qadisiyah FC

Founding and Early Years

Al-Qadisiyah was founded in 1967 in Khobar, in the Eastern Province, from the merger of local clubs Al-Wahda and Al-Shoula, from whom it inherited its red and yellow colors. Its name honors the historic Battle of Al-Qadisiyah.

Club Evolution

Nicknamed "Fares Al Sharqiyah" (Knight of the East), the club plays at Prince Saud bin Jalawi Sports City Stadium, opened in 1983 in Khobar. Acquired by oil giant Saudi Aramco in 2023, the club has since undergone a dramatic transformation in ambition.

Great Managers

Slovak coach Ján Pivarník led the club to its greatest continental achievement, the 1993-94 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. More recently, Spaniard Míchel González brought the club back to the top flight via the 2023-24 second-division title, before Brendan Rodgers took charge in December 2025.

Iconic Players

Yasser Al-Qahtani, a future Al-Hilal legend, came through the club's ranks before his 2005 transfer. Since Aramco's takeover, Al-Qadisiyah have signed major names including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, then Italian striker Mateo Retegui, who joined in 2025 for around €65 million, an Italian transfer record at the time.

Major Achievements

Al-Qadisiyah won the 1993-94 Asian Cup Winners' Cup and the 1991-92 Crown Prince Cup, along with four Saudi second-division titles, most recently in 2023-24.

The Club Today

Coached by Brendan Rodgers and chaired by Bader Al-Reziza, Al-Qadisiyah finished 4th in the 2025-26 championship, their best modern-era performance, fueled by heavy investment from their new owner.
