Al Najma

Founding and Early Years

Al-Najma was founded in 1960 by a group of young men from Al-Qassim as "Al-Dhalia," before successively becoming "Al-Nahda of Unaizah" and "Al-Orouba of Unaizah," finally taking its current name, officially registered on 8 January 1969.

Club Evolution

Nicknamed "The Star of Unaizah," the club plays at Al-Najma Club Stadium in Unaizah and contests a fierce local derby with Al-Arabi SC.

Great Managers

Algerian Rabah Saâdane, later a historic Algeria national-team coach, managed the club in 1991-92, while Italian Giovanni Solinas led the side during its 2023-24 promotion campaign.

Iconic Players

Mansour Al-Mousa, a member of Saudi Arabia's 1989 FIFA U-17 World Championship-winning squad, and Zamil Al-Sulim, who moved to Al-Ettifaq in 2011 for a then-record transfer fee for a club player, remain standout figures.

Major Achievements

Al-Najma won the first-division title in 1989-90 and 1993-94, with a best-ever top-flight finish of 3rd, achieved in 1997-98.

The Club Today

After their first top-flight season since 2002-03, Al-Najma finished bottom of the table and were relegated at the end of the 2025-26 season; the club, currently going through privatization under chairman Mishaal Al-Marzouqi, begins the 2026-27 season in the second division under Nestor El Maestro.
