England booked their place in the 2026 World Cup semi-final by beating Norway 2-1, in a thrilling match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami that went all the way to extra time.
Norway stunned their opponents by taking the lead through Andreas Schjelderup in the 36th minute, before Jude Bellingham equalized for the Three Lions in the 45th, sending both sides into the break level at 1-1.
In a moment of pure drama deep into second-half stoppage time, Bellingham struck his second and decisive goal in the 93rd minute, putting England ahead just as the match looked set to head to extra time level. The game did go to extra time regardless, with no further goals, ending in a 2-1 English victory.
With this result, Norway close the book on the greatest run in their World Cup history, having reached the quarter-final for the first time since their only other appearance, back in 1938. England will now face the winner of Argentina vs Switzerland in the semi-final.
