Argentina booked their place in the 2026 World Cup semi-final by beating Switzerland 3-1 after a dramatic extra time in Kansas City.
Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for La Albiceleste in the 10th minute, before Dan Ndoye equalized for Switzerland in the 67th, sending both sides into extra time level at 1-1.
The sending-off of Swiss forward Breel Embolo, booked twice within five minutes (44th and 72nd), proved to be the turning point of the match, with Switzerland finishing the game a man down from the 72nd minute onward.
In extra time, Argentina made the most of their numerical advantage to settle the tie with two consecutive goals: one from Julián Álvarez in the 112th minute, and another from veteran Lautaro Martínez in the very last minute (120th), ending any hope of a Swiss comeback.
With this win, Argentina become the fourth and final team to book their semi-final spot, where they will face the winner of England vs Norway.
