Barça Seal Fifth Summer Signing With Cancelo
FC Barcelona have officially confirmed the return of João Cancelo from Al-Hilal, his third spell at the Catalan club, but the first on a permanent deal.

FC Barcelona have officially confirmed the return of Portuguese full-back João Cancelo (32) from Al-Hilal, on a permanent contract running until the summer of 2029.
Deal terms
- A free transfer, after terminating his Al-Hilal contract, which had been due to run until 2027
- A new three-year contract with Barça, until 2029
- Cancelo gave up part of the money still owed to him by Al-Hilal to facilitate the move
A third spell, but the first permanent one
Cancelo is enjoying his third spell at FC Barcelona, having previously spent the 2023-24 season on loan before a second loan spell in January, but this is the first time he has signed a permanent deal with the Catalan club. He becomes Barça's fifth summer signing, after Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Rodri.
