Founding and Early Years

Nottingham Forest Football Club was founded in 1865, making it one of the oldest football clubs in the world, long before the creation of the Football League.

The club has played its home matches at the City Ground since 1898, a stadium with a capacity of 31,042 on the banks of the River Trent.

Great Managers

Brian Clough wrote the greatest chapter in the club's history between 1975 and 1993: promoted to the First Division in 1977, Forest were immediately crowned English champions in 1977-78, before winning two consecutive European Cups in 1979 and 1980, a feat that remains unique for a club of this size. After decades in the wilderness, Steve Cooper brought the club back to the Premier League in 2022 after a 23-year absence.

The club has been carried by figures such as John Robertson and Peter Shilton, mainstays of Clough's European epic, and more recently by Taiwo Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Major Achievements

Nottingham Forest have won two European Cups (1979, 1980), a European Super Cup (1979), one English league title (1977-78), and four League Cups.
