History of FC Cincinnati
Founding and Early Years
FC Cincinnati was founded on 12 August 2015 as a USL club, before being awarded an MLS expansion franchise on 29 May 2018 and beginning league play on 2 March 2019. The club built its reputation in USL on record-breaking attendance, a key factor in its rise to MLS.
Club Evolution
Nicknamed "The Orange and Blue," the club wear those colours and have played since 2021 at TQL Stadium, in the West End neighborhood. Their crest features a winged lion whose seven-point mane evokes Cincinnati's seven hills.
Great Managers
Alan Koch (2016-2019) defined the club's USL era, with a 2018 regular-season title and a historic 2017 US Open Cup semi-final. Pat Noonan (since 2021) became the club's defining figure, winning its first-ever trophy, the 2023 Supporters' Shield, and being named Coach of the Year that same season.
Iconic Players
Luciano Acosta, the club's all-time top scorer, was named MLS MVP in 2023 with over 60% of the vote, a club first. Brenner established himself as a prolific striker with multiple hat-tricks.
Major Achievements
FC Cincinnati have won one Supporters' Shield (2023), the club's first-ever MLS trophy, without winning MLS Cup or the US Open Cup since joining the top flight.
