Founding and Early Years
Burnley Football Club was founded on 18 May 1882, before joining the twelve founding members of the Football League as early as 1888.
Club Evolution
The club has played its home matches at Turf Moor since 1883, one of the oldest stadiums still used in professional football, with a capacity of 21,944.
Great Managers
Burnley experienced their golden era in 1959-60 under Harry Potts, winning their second English league title and making the town the smallest to have hosted a top-flight champion club. More recently, Sean Dyche established the club firmly in the Premier League for nearly a decade, before Nicky Hayen took charge in the summer of 2026.
