Founding and Early Years

West Ham United traces its origins to Thames Ironworks, founded in 1895 by workers at an East London shipyard, before being reformed under its current name in 1900.

Club Evolution

After decades at Upton Park, the club moved in 2016 to the London Stadium, the former Olympic venue from the 2012 London Games, with a capacity of around 62,500.

Great Managers

Ron Greenwood led the club to its greatest successes in the 1960s and 70s, notably winning the 1965 Cup Winners' Cup. More recently, David Moyes returned the club to the European summit by winning the 2023 Conference League, the club's first major trophy since 1980.

Iconic Players

The club has been carried by iconic figures such as Bobby Moore, captain of England's 1966 World Cup-winning team, as well as by its historic reputation as a talent-developing club.

Major Achievements

West Ham have won three FA Cups, a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1965), and, in 2023, the Conference League, ending a 43-year wait for a major trophy.
