Founding and Early Years

The club's roots trace back to 15 March 1908 with Sporting Club Lecce, a multi-sport club. The current entity, Unione Sportiva Lecce, was formed on 11 September 1927 through the merger of two local clubs, Juventus Lecce and Gladiator Lecce.

Club Evolution

Lecce play at the Stadio Via del Mare, inaugurated in 1966 and fully rebuilt and reopened in 1985, today officially named Stadio Ettore Giardiniero - Via del Mare. Nicknamed "I Giallorossi" for their yellow and red colours, inherited from the city's coat of arms, the club is also known as "I Salentini," after the Salento region, and "I Lupi" (The Wolves).

Great Managers

Eugenio Fascetti delivered Lecce's first-ever Serie A promotion in the 1980s. Carlo Mazzone later stabilised the club in the top flight, including a 9th-place finish in 1988-89. More recently, Fabio Liverani took Lecce from Serie C to Serie A with two promotions in three seasons.

Iconic Players

Antonio Conte, a Lecce native, developed at the club before becoming one of Italian football's most decorated managers. Javier Chevantón, the Uruguayan forward, remains the club's all-time top scorer, while Pietro Pasculli, a 1986 World Cup winner with Argentina, and Graziano Pellè, who made his Serie A debut at Lecce in 2004, are among the club's other notable names.

Major Achievements

Lecce have never won Serie A or the Coppa Italia, but have been crowned Serie B champions twice (2009-10, 2021-22) and Serie C champions four times.

The Club Today

Led by Eusebio Di Francesco and chaired by Saverio Sticchi Damiani since 2017, Lecce achieved a club-record four consecutive Serie A survivals, securing their status on the final matchday of the 2025-26 season.
