Italy have won the World Cup four times: 1934 and 1938 (under Vittorio Pozzo), then 1982 and 2006. The 2026 edition will be remembered for the Azzurri's absence, eliminated in qualifying after a 3-0 defeat to Norway in June 2025 — an elimination mocked by FIFA president Gianni Infantino during the tournament.
European Championship
Italy have also won the Euros twice, in 1968 and in 2020 (played in 2021 due to the pandemic), the latter marking the team's return to the top of world football.
