History of NAC Breda
Founding and Early Years
NAC Breda was born on 19 September 1912 from the merger of two Breda clubs, NOAD (founded 1895) and ADVENDO (founded 1904), NAC standing for "NOAD ADVENDO Combinatie." The name "Breda" was added in 2003, in gratitude to the city that bought the club's stadium to help it through financial difficulty.
Club Evolution
Nicknamed "The Yellow Army," the club plays at Rat Verlegh Stadion, opened in 1996 and renamed in 2006 in honor of club legend Antoon "Rat" Verlegh, whose colors became the club's now-iconic yellow and black.
Great Managers
Bob Maaskant (1975-1977) originated the legendary "Avondje NAC" tradition, evenings when the club became nearly unbeatable at home under its new floodlights.
