History of Paris FC

Founding and Early Years

Paris FC was born in 1969, as part of an initiative by the city of Paris and the French federation to give the capital a big club again. Merged as early as 1970 with Stade Saint-Germain to form Paris Saint-Germain, the club split in 1972: the professional section kept the Paris FC name, while the PSG brand continued with the reserve section.

Club Evolution

The club, wearing navy blue, long played in the lower divisions of French football before returning to Ligue 1 in 2025-26, after more than 45 years away from the top flight. They have played at the Stade Jean-Bouin, shared with the Stade Français rugby club, since the 2025-26 season.

A Club in Transformation

Paris FC has no great historical manager on the men's side, its identity shaped more by its status as a "small Paris club" than by a trophy cabinet. Antoine Kombouaré, who arrived mid-season in 2025-26, nonetheless saved the club from a relegation threat, leading them to an 11th-place finish.

The Women's Team, a True Benchmark

Unlike the men's section, Paris FC's women's team carries a rich heritage inherited from FCF Juvisy, integrated into the club in 2017: six French women's championship titles and two women's Coupe de France titles, the most recent in 2024-25.

Major Achievements

On the men's side, Paris FC have won no major national trophy, their best Coupe de France run stopping at a semi-final in 1979-80; their 2025 promotion to Ligue 1 came as Ligue 2 runners-up.

The Club Today

Led by Liam Rosenior since July 2026 and chaired by Pierre Ferracci since 2012, under the majority ownership of the Arnault family via Agache Sports and with Red Bull as a minority investor, Paris FC play in Ligue 1 for the 2026-27 season.
