History of Lille
Founding and Early Years
Lille OSC was born on 23 September 1944 from the merger of Olympique Lillois and SC Fives, two clubs weakened by the Second World War. The club reached the 1945 Coupe de France final, before completing the league-and-cup double in 1946.
Club Evolution
Nicknamed "Les Dogues" (The Mastiffs), Lille wear white and red inherited from Olympique Lillois, paired with blue from SC Fives. The club have played since 2012 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, fitted with a retractable roof, after long being based at the Stade Grimonprez-Jooris.
